About Lead Local

Lead Local was a collaborative research project bringing together well-respected local power-building leaders in the fields of community organizing, advocacy, and research.

From 2018 to 2020, Lead Local sought to answer the question:

How does community power catalyze, create and sustain conditions for healthy communities?

GOALS

  1. Deepen understanding of how community power operates in place and changes community conditions that lead to healthy neighborhoods;

  2. Demonstrate how community power efforts support residents to better understand and shape the conditions that impact their health;

  3. Identify innovations in community power-building that create comprehensive, system-wide change;

  4. Elevate ways to measure and track the impacts of base building, as a core function of building community power.
